Farewell To The Yankee Stadium
On Sunday, the Yankee Stadium in New York plays host to its final baseball match when the New York Yankees take on the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankee Stadium is one the world's most famous sporting amphitheatres and nostalgia will definitely be in the air. The stadium opened on 18 April 1923 when the legendary Babe Ruth hit the first home run in the new ballpark against his former team, the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees are not moving far however, because they will be relocating to a purpose-built stadium right next door, with the first game there being scheduled for 16 April 2009.
